When Writing Isn’t Your Biggest Priority

Workout Wednesday – July 17, 2019

You may have noticed there was no post last Wednesday, July 10.  I apologize for that.  I was sitting in a hospital room, making arrangements for my husband to enter hospice care at home.  I didn’t give two figs about writing that day.  I did think of you, dear writer, and my commitment to you and our writing journey.  I wondered what I could do to keep both of us motivated.

Here is my plan:

Motivational Mondays Writing Challenge will continue, but change a bit. I will not necessarily post an edited text of my own each and every time.  Perhaps you would be willing to start sharing some of your thoughts and ideas, to help me stay motivated to write during this challenging time?  I would love that!

Workout Wednesdays will be discontinued until further notice.  At this point, I plan to resume these posts in the Fall, September or October.

Photo Friday Challenge will continue. Would you consider posting pictures of yours, to help me imagine new scenes and scenarios for writing?  That would be great!

I continue to keep my appointment with myself to write, although I am a bit more flexible with the time, both in terms of the time of day and the amount of time I spend.  Most of my writing at this point is very personal and I am not prepared to share it or edit other things for a little while.  I know that you will understand, dear writer friend, and I appreciate it.

I have been listening to a lot of music lately. My favorite verse from the song Turn! Turn! Turn! by The Byrds is:

“To everything (turn, turn, turn)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)

And a time to every purpose under heaven.

A time to build up, a time to break down

A time to dance, a time to mourn

A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together… “

Keep writing! ~T
