The Journey Begins

Stacked stones on driftwood on a central Oregon coast beach.

“If you hear a voice within you saying, ‘You are not a writer,’ then by all means write, and that voice will be silenced.” Adapted from Vincent van Gogh

Like many writers, I struggle with my writing practice. When do I have the time to write? Writers, good ones anyway, are said to be avid readers, too. When do I have the time to do that? How can I keep the tyranny of the urgent from getting in the way of my writing practice? These and so many more questions plague all of us at some point or other in our pursuit of our passion of writing.

The goal of this site is to encourage you, a writer, to write. Just as rock cairns are built to signify special places in a journey, we writers stack word upon word, line upon line, paragraph upon paragraph to build stories of presence.

I invite you to take this writer’s journey with me. Along the way, there will be writing prompts to help you get those creative juices flowing, quotes on writing to inspire you, exploration of our craft, book recommendations, and my own blog posts – all with the goal of keeping all of us in this community writing.

Whether pen and paper, keyboard, or camera, let’s write; write now!
